I was a little angry last weekend. The on/off rain, sometimes just drizzle, then a real down pour meant, after an aborted ride, I was stuck to the turbo on Saturday. I probably could have survived for a short ride, but I had 4 hours pencilled in. It would have been unpleasant but a bigger concern was may make me ill too. It is getting close to the day, and I'm now even more concerned that a less than perfect training session can affect the outcome.
Sunday worked out just as planned which was a big relief. Monday too went well. I felt I'd earned the rest day come Tuesday. But then with family commitments I was back on the turbo for Wednesday and Thursday. I did okay sessions, but it still doesn;t feel like a proper road workout. I feel guilty. Of course combined with lunchtime workouts, my legs were tired come Thursday evening. A good feeling of having been worked.
Tonight I picked up a Planet X 82/101 wheelset from a fellow Dulwich Paragon member. Very generous of him as we barely know each other. I haven't had a chance to put them on the bike yet, just a cassette and brake pad change required, due to the family. But on first nspection they look very quick. Amazing value. I can't believe that any other wheelset compares for quality/price. For all those graphs I've seen of drag to wind yaw, I now think the bang/buck graph is more important. Are those few seconds worth an extra £1000.
My little boy had a nose bleed in his sleep when I got home, hence the delay with putting the wheels where they belong. It may be a rush to get them in place for tomorrows ride. May be Sunday is more likely.
