The London to Bath and Back record.

In 1981 John Woodburn set the Road Records Association Record for London to Bath and back. He covered the 211 miles in just 9 hours, 3 minutes and 7 seconds. A time so formidable that it has stood for over 28 years unchallenged. This my training blog as I attempt the break the record.

Gosh, it's been a whlie again.
The hard earned and saved money, put aside for new wheel or two has been spent. I now have a Hotpoint FT114 dishwasher, still umplumbed and a Yellow chair from John Lewis. I'm yet to see how either effect my performance.
I've had my birthday on Monday. A very well organised non-event, if you wanted to ensure nothng on any note happened on your special day, then I have the blue print.
The training has now switched to speed work, with a couple of brutal sessions. Hard sprints, increasing distances at max and acceceration sets.
I have also entered the East Surrey 30mTT, which was just going to be a test for how fast I am within my HR for the attempt. But the field is avery strong, so I now I want to see how I measure up against people I have heard of. And last night I noted John Woodburn, the current London to Bath record is racing.
I hope to get a chance to say hello to him and let him know how much I respect his achievements in cycling. Somehow a knighthood for a gold medal seems cheap when you consider what John Woodburn is still achieving after 50 years in the sport.
I'm beginning to feel nervous for tomorrow, not having raced in a while and not knowing the route. I'll dust off the TT machine, drop on some oil and maybe have a jaunt on it today.
We have friends staying at the moment so I need to prepare breakfasts for the locusts.
Until tomorrow....
