The London to Bath and Back record.

In 1981 John Woodburn set the Road Records Association Record for London to Bath and back. He covered the 211 miles in just 9 hours, 3 minutes and 7 seconds. A time so formidable that it has stood for over 28 years unchallenged. This my training blog as I attempt the break the record.

Power Meters are over rated - check out Dave Lloyd Coaching website for his review.

Thanks for your comment, he seems to have spelt out the obvious. Powermeters are expensive, and unless you know exactly what you are doing can prove to be a distraction at best. Something my coach also said, but it doesn't stop that craving for the lastest equipment.
My coach edged me to buy a Garmin rather than a powermeter, and to be honest it is brilliant. It records data I understand, which is well presented on the Garmin connect software and easily shared.
The only issue I have is that I want to know exactly whether I'm getting better and by how much. Due to all the variables you get riding outside, timing a lap isn't accurate. And a bad time can leave me feeling deflated, even if the wind was in the wrong direction.
All said and done, setting up the turbo consistantly and timing how long I can hold a cadence in a specific gear is about as accurate as I can be to date, and while it may be not 100% perfect, it's not £1000 too inaccurate.
Thanks 'Anonymous' for helping me clear my mind.
